Biography

Doug’s is a consummate wind instrument artist, he is equally good and diverse whether playing the alto, the soprano, tenor saxophone, the flute, harmonica or the wind synthesizer.

The Doug Jones Group has also shared the stage with Tower of Power, Marion Meadows and Bob Baldwin.

Doug has also been involved with projects that have opened for Paul Butterfield, Robert Cray, Pat Benatar, The Outlaws and Van Morrison. Doug has also performed several times with The Fabulous Rhinestones.

A native from Connecticut, Doug Jones attended the University of Hartford and received a Bachelor in Science in Communications and later returned to the prestigious Hartt School of Music for a degree in Music Education.

Doug has been a presence in the Connecticut Music Scene since the age of 16. Doug is a consummate wind instrument artist equally good whether playing alto, soprano, tenor saxophone, the flute, harmonica or the wind synthesizer.

Doug and the Doug Jones Group have had the honor to share the stage with Tower of Power, Marion Meadows and Bob Baldwin among others. The Doug Jones Group has been performing its original brand of smooth jazz throughout New England for the past 16 years. Doug has also been involved with projects that have opened for Paul Butterfield, Robert Cray, Pat Benatar, The Outlaws and Van Morrison. Doug has also performed several times with The Fabulous Rhinestones. Doug has been a frequent performer in jazz clubs from Newport to Manhattan, Boston and South America.

Whether he is playing blues, contemporary jazz or his own brand of smooth jazz, Doug stands in a class of his own. His electrifying stage energy, original sound and the power of his music captivates audiences everywhere he plays.

Doug Jones has two CD’s of original music “Heart And Soul” and “Shades Of Gray” and is getting ready to record his 3rd CD of original compositions.
